Ellie Thomas is a self-confessed 70s soft rock enthusiast and Trust the Feeling does not disappoint in this department. An emotional autobiographical tale of not being accepted for who they are, this track is actually quite the opposite of what the title evokes; 'I should have known not to trust the feeling of seeing you there for me'. Starting with a slightly abstract solo piano intro and packed full of Elton-John-esque piano riffs throughout, this track shows a well developed musicality and ear for instrumentation that just works. Layers of orchestral elements, multiple vocals - including call/response style backing vocals, especially the last line of the middle 8, which is then followed by a beautiful instrumental solo and a final chorus. This song is the first in a string of singles that will be released prior to the full album, due in 2026.
