Glazier - The Crave of Ketamine Dave

If you're a fan of Worthing legends The Golgis, then you might want to sit down for this: a new project, Glazier, brain-child of our very own Tony Whiting. If you have a listen, you'll be able to identify the instantly recognisable sound of Whiting's vocals among his also recognisable style of writing, with candid lyrics - 'I'm getting impatient - answer your phone, you miserable git!' Tony explains, 'Glazier has come into being after I wrote a song about a colleague called Dave, who’s nick-name to some is ‘Ketamine Dave’.' Not satisfied with just one song, he soon realised the potential for a group of songs in the form of a concept album, and set about writing the story. He approached his musician friend, multi-instrumentalist Niall Hone, currently with Space Rock band ‘Lords Of Form’, and ex longtime member of the kings of Space Rock, ‘Hawkwind’. Niall was able to offer lead guitar, bass guitar, keyboards, and backing vocals, and also acted as engineer/producer of all the tracks. Long time collaborator Gareth Burgess (also of The Golgis) was recruited for drumming duties. The resulting album, entitled ‘The Crave of Ketamine Dave’, consists of 8 songs telling the troubled story of Dave from teenage years to middle age, and highlighting the traps and unescapable holes that mind-altering substances can make any person fall in to. The musical style ranges from thought provoking acoustic to hard power rock, with a large dose of psychedelic dreaming, all with catchy hooks. Having secured a record deal with a label in Germany, Glazier are enjoying the opportunity to share this album with a bit more well-deserved extra attention than purely going it alone as an independent band.
